YUASA BATTERY SALES (UK) LTD HUNTS THIRD CLEAN SWEEP IN FOUR YEARS WITH HONDA YUASA RACING TEAM FOR 2014 BTCC SEASON

Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd – the UK market leader for Automotive Aftermarket, Industrial and Motorcycle Batteries – is hunting a third clean sweep of trophies in four years as title sponsor of Honda Yuasa Racing (HYR) in the forthcoming 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). As the team takes the wraps off its eye-catching all new 2014 Civic Tourer race car ahead of the season opener at Brands Hatch in March, Yuasa is looking forward to another successful year of sponsorship.

This is the fifth year that Yuasa has supported Honda Yuasa Racing and the team’s phenomenal success in that time has delivered a major boost to brand recognition among consumers in the company’s target markets. The 2014 Tourer is the only estate car on the grid with HYR drivers Matt Neal and Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden determined to reclaim the clean sweep of driver, manufacturer and team titles they held in 2011 and 2012. The team only narrowly missed that target last year dropping just the drivers’ championship on the final day of racing.

Andrew Taylor, Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd’s Managing Director, commented: “Our ongoing sponsorship of Honda Yuasa Racing is continuing to prove a resounding success and is delivering major benefits by raising the profile of the Yuasa brand. Yuasa’s partnership with Honda is very strong and provides us with the perfect springboard for our ambitious UK and European automotive aftermarket plans. There will be plenty of excitement in the 2014 BTCC season as Honda Yuasa Racing defends the team and manufacturer trophies it has won for the last four seasons and looks to regain the drivers’ title.”

He concluded, “We know that another exciting season of racing beckons and we’re keen to sweep the board again. Whatever 2014 has in store, there’s no doubt that the UK’s most watched and most accessible motorsport is going to deliver another outstanding season of wheel-to-wheel racing.”
