Yuasa to showcase latest Lithium Energy Storage Cabinet technology at Data Centre World 2017

Yuasa, the world’s leading battery manufacturer, will showcase a state-of-the-art Lithium-ion (Li-ion) energy storage cabinet at this year’s Data Centre World. The system will sit alongside an industry leading Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) battery Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system providing reliable standby power to a running Live Green Data Centre at the heart of the exhibition.

The energy storage cabinet contains 12 GS Yuasa LIM50EN-12-F2 Li-ion high energy modules controlled by a battery management system. Despite being only the size of a filing cabinet, the system is able to provide 300kW of power.

Yuasa’s Li-ion energy storage cabinets are designed to be a convenient, space saving, ‘plug and play’ style alternative to VRLA powered UPS systems. They are becoming increasingly popular for data centre and other critical standby power applications.

The cabinet will be positioned next to a UPS installation using Yuasa SWL VRLA batteries. Visitors to the show will be able to see first-hand the premium performance, higher energy density and remarkably small footprint of lithium compared to VRLA. In fact, the Li-ion system will produce twice the power despite being less than half the size!

Yuasa will also showcase a wide variety of its extensive battery ranges during the exhibition, with a heavy focus on Data Centre and UPS applications. Furthermore the battery manufacturer’s stand will feature the UK debut of its recently launched Dual Chemical Battery System which uses LIM40 Li-ion modules alongside FXH90 VRLA batteries.

As European market leader for standby battery systems, Yuasa batteries are used across the globe to provide reliable backup power in a wide range of applications. In UPS and data centre projects the batteries are typically installed on an optimised racking unit designed by Yuasa engineers to meet the specific individual requirements of the system.

Mark Greer, General Sales Manager – Reserve and Renewable Power Division at Yuasa Battery Sales (UK) Ltd said: “We are excited to be displaying our Li-ion energy storage technology at Data Centre World’s. We are the world’s leading battery manufacturer, and a key partner to many high-profile, successful data centre installations across the globe, our batteries feature the latest technology and provide proven dependable backup power.

“GS Yuasa batteries are used in deep sea submarines, the International Space Station and a wide range of applications in between. We work with our customers to provide the optimum standby solution for their individual project from planning through to construction. Our presence at Data Centre World allows us to showcase our latest products and highlight the characteristics of our high quality battery ranges to the industry.”
