The Finnish Rally Championship in Tahko on 11 March 2017
Yuasa backed Jukka Kasi and Henri Ania’s race in the third rally of the Finnish Rally Championship series in Nilsiä was successful in terms of driving and the performance of the car, even if they fell a little short of their goal result. The team finished at 9th place in SM1-class (4wd Super cars).
“The conditions were a little tough for us. On the first special stage the driver was a little ‘asleep’ and as a result the gap to the race-leading driver stretched unforgivingly wide”, Jukka summed up after the first special stage on Saturday morning.
“As the race went on, we got the hang of it, although the time gap to the top continued to grow by a few seconds per special stage. I guess our priority thoughts were on finishing the race after retirement in Mikkeli in February. Furthermore, at the end of the entire season every point counts”, Kasi continued.
The Tahko Rally 2017 consisted of six special stages amounting to 104 km in total SS. On Saturday morning the roads were snowy and icy, but the surface melted by the afternoon special stages thanks to the sunny 0 °C weather.
“At times the route was ploughed so close to the soft edges of the road that we made contact with the snow banks. Our placing in the competitive Tahko Rally SM1-class was equivalent to our performance. Thanks to the PrintSport Racing team the performance of the Ford Fiesta S2000 during this winter season has been great and I’m very pleased with it.”
The winter season is wrapped up and Rally Team Kasing is heading towards the summer rallies with enthusiasm.
