Yuasa were revving up for another momentous motorsport season as the new-look Halfords Yuasa Racing 2017 Honda Civic Type R racing car took to the track in front of the world’s press at the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) Media Day today.
Powered by Yuasa, team mates Gordon Shedden and Matt Neal took to the legendary Donington Park circuit for various BTCC Media Day photo opportunities and a pre-season test session alongside their 2017 BTCC rivals.
With aggressive styling and a striking new black and orange livery, the Halfords Yuasa Racing Civic Type R’s certainly looked lightning fast out on track. And if their success over previous years is anything to go by, they will once again be the team to beat in 2017.
Hot off the back of his third, and second successive, BTCC driver’s championship title in 2016 Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden looks unstoppable, and will be gunning to add a fourth title to his trophy cabinet this year. Meanwhile, long-term team mate Matt Neal has other ideas as he hunts for his fourth BTCC title having last held the crown six years ago.
Yuasa has a long and proud heritage in motorsport, and has been a title sponsor of the Honda works BTCC team since 2011. During this time the battery manufacturer has enjoyed unprecedented success, winning a phenomenal four drivers championships and six manufacturers titles.

The BTCC season opener takes place at Brands Hatch on 2 April. The 33-round series then travels across the UK over 11 weekends taking in legendary circuits including Silverstone and Donington Park before returning to Brands Hatch for the season finale in October.
