The Finnish Rally Championship in Uusikaupunki on 9th September 2017
Team Kasing’s Yuasa backed Jukka Kasi and Henri Ania’s rally-fall has been all about preparing for the Finnish Championship Rally in Uusikaupunki. The pair took home the 7th highest points in the SM1-class despite a flat tyre in special stage six.
One week prior to Uusikaupunki Rally, the local Pohjanmaa Rally provided a chance to get back behind the wheel after a long driving pause and compete against some of the same drivers that would be competing in the Finnish Championship series. Kasi and Ania placed fifth in the two-day Pohjanmaa Rally.
“The eight-special-stage Finnish Championship Rally in Uusikaupunki commenced in rainy conditions, which translated into some careful driving from Kasi’s side. We set out to get in touch with driving again after a long pause. Our goal was to finish the rally in order to gain the important Finnish Championship points.
The series of flat tyres that has been a nuisance during this season continued. We hit a rock on the roadway at the midpoint of the SS, which resulted in flat front tyre and us falling 1 minute and 20 seconds behind the fastest pair on the SS. This is quite incredible as this is the 3rd time within last 3 consecutive summer season rallies, we were unlucky experiencing a flat tyre in the rally resulting too much time penalty to be able to compete for better final result.”
“Preparations for the next rally in Tampere are already under way, we will be working hard to get good results. The team are doing a fantastic job, just more practice is needed. Rallies having about 100km total SSs length are not a problem and gives us the opportunity to be able to compete for top positions in these short rallies,” Kasi describes.
Team Kasing look forward to the season ending national series rally in Tampere at the end of this month and will be pushing hard for a strong finish to gather some good points.
