GS Yuasa International Ltd. have announced they are to expand production capacity of their Lithium-ion battery technology to meet increased demand.
An Original Equipment (OE) supplier to some of the world’s top vehicle marques, the battery manufacturer has seen increased demand for their Lithium-ion battery technology as the automotive industry accelerates to embrace hybrid technology ahead of ever-stricter emissions regulations.
As well as strengthening existing production lines at the Blue Energy Co, a joint venture between GS Yuasa and Honda, the world’s leading battery manufacturer have announced plans to build a second plant, a move which will see production capacity increasing by over 50% by 2023.
The shift to electric-powered vehicles is being promoted as an initiative to reduce the burden on the environment. Hybrid vehicles offer an excellent balance between environmental performance and price. Production is expected to increase particularly among vehicle manufacturers in Japan, and also in Europe, North America, and China.
