The world-leading battery manufacturer, GS Yuasa, have released a video documenting the coming together of two of their key sponsorships, automotive artist POPBANGCOLOUR and The Blades aerobatic display team.
Filmed at Sywell Aerodrome, the two-and-a-half-minute video follows POPBANGCOLOUR creator Ian as he recreates one of The Blades’ iconic Extra 300 aircraft which prominently features Yuasa’s logo on the tail fin, all from the comfort of the Continuous Car Mobile Studio.
Things soon take on another dimension as Ian takes to the skies in an attempt to do the same – the results of which are revealed in the short video available to watch now across the global battery manufacturer’s social platforms.
Only recently announced, the automotive artist has become the Japanese battery manufacturer’s latest brand ambassador. The partnership will see Ian representing the Japanese battery brand at prestigious events, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Silverstone Classic and numerous British Touring Car Championship rounds.
The latest drawings form part of the POPBANGCOLOUR Continuous Car catalogue and joins a range of Yuasa-branded machinery including the Volkswagen Polo R5 driven to the British Rally title in 2021 as well as the 2020 Team Dynamics-run Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic Type R.
Yuasa, the UK market leader for vehicle and industrial batteries, are also a key sponsor of the world-famous aerobatic display team The Blades. The latest video follows a similar work of art, this time created by high-flying aerobats – the Japanese battery manufacturer’s distinctive ‘Y’ shaped logo – which is also available to watch on YouTube.
James Douglas, European Group Marketing Manager for GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd. said: “It’s brilliant to see two of our sponsorship activities come together in such an exciting way! Ian is renowned throughout the industry for creating incredible works of art – similarly, The Blades do the same at air shows across the UK every summer.”
