GS Yuasa, the world leading manufacturer, is proud to announce that their GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd. and GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd. operations based in Swindon have achieved a certification for Cyber Essentials Plus. This significant milestone underscores the company’s unwavering commitment to cyber security and protecting customer data across its operations in Europe.
The Cyber Essentials Plus certification is a rigorous audit of the company’s IT systems, conducted by licensed and certified cyber security consultants. It demonstrates that GS Yuasa has implemented the necessary technical controls to defend against the most common cyber threats, ensuring the safety of its digital assets and providing a secure working environment for its staff.
Adam Miller, Group IT Manager for GS Yuasa Battery Europe Ltd., commented: “Achieving the Cyber Essentials Plus certification is a significant milestone for us. It reflects our proactive approach to cyber security and our dedication to protecting both our internal systems and our customers’ sensitive information. This certification not only enhances our reputation but also opens up new opportunities, particularly with supplier agreements that require the certification.”
For GS Yuasa’s customers, this certification translates to several tangible benefits. Enhanced cyber security measures mean a reduced risk of service disruptions caused by cyber attacks, ensuring more reliable access to products and services. It also means that customer data is safeguarded with robust protection protocols, reducing the risk of data breaches and associated issues such as identity theft or financial loss. Additionally, the certification can give customers confidence that GS Yuasa adheres to high standards of data protection, which is particularly important for those in industries where data security is paramount.
To achieve the certification, the company built on its existing baseline Cyber Essentials certification. This was followed by a hands-on technical assessment, involving a wide range of checks to ensure compliance standards. The process included a series of on-site internal vulnerability scans, tests of in-scope systems, and an off-site external vulnerability scan conducted by the certification body. All checks met the necessary compliance standards for the certificate to be granted.
