  • 1912 – Storage battery plant (Shin-machi, lmadegawa) built
  • 1917 – Japan Storage Battery Co., Ltd. Established 2 EVs of “DETROIT” model imported from U.S.A.
  • 1919 – Production of automotive batteries begins
  • 1920 – Genzo Shimadzu invents “reactive lead oxides production method”
  • 1929 – Enpun Toryo Co,, Ltd. (now known as Dai Nippon Toryo Co., Ltd.) established
  • 1933 – Production of glass mercury rectifiers begins
  • 1937 – Nippon Yusoki Co., Ltd, established
  • 1938 – Production of alkaline batteries begins
  • 1940 – Ultra-high-pressure mercury lamps developed
  • 1958 – Japan Storage Battery building completed (Tokyo office)
  • 1965 – Fujisawa plant completed
  • 1966 – Siam GS Battery established
  • 1972 – P.T. GS Battery established
  • 1977 – GS Battery (U.S.A.) Inc, established
  • 1980 – Gunma plant completed
  • 1986 – GS-Saft established, Ni-Cd battery manufacturing and sales subsidiary Capital participation in Ztong Yee Industrial Co., Ltd, (in Taiwan)
  • 1987 – Cl introduced; corporate philosophy and management principles formulated
  • 1989 – GS-EE established, mini-UPS manufacturing and sales subsidiary
  • 1991 – Tianjin Tong Yee Industrial Co., Ltd, established
  • 1993 – Prismatic Lithium-ion batteries developed
  • 1995 – Shandong Huari Battery Co., Ltd established, the first overseas industrial battery manufacturing and sales affiliate in China
  • 1997 – GS-Melcotec Co., Ltd. established, lithium-ion battery manufacturing and subsidiary {SANYO GS Soft Energy Co., Ltd. at present)
  • 1997 – Beijing Ri Jia Power Supply, Co., Ltd. established, the first overseas industrial power supply system manufacturing and sales affiliate in China.
  • 1997 – GS Battery Vietnam Co., Ltd, established
  • 2002 – GS Battery (China) Co., Ltd. Established, the first traction battery manufacturing and sales affiliate in China
  • 2004 – Japan Storage Battery Co., Ltd. merges with Yuasa Corporation. GS Yuasa Corporation established
