GS Yuasa, the world’s leading battery manufacturer, have donated two of their Yuasa YCX smart chargers to the Swindon-based Wheels Workshop project.
Run by Rob Fox, the project aims to engage troubled teenagers with hands on experience including basic motorcycle mechanics and the fundamentals of road safety.
The project came to the attention of Yuasa following the project’s highly successful JustGiving campaign in December 2019. Original Equipment (OE) supplier to 90% of motorcycle manufacturers, GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd, the UK arm of the global battery giant, have been based in Swindon since 2011. As well as having their head offices and a distribution facility in South Marston, the battery manufacturer also has a warehouse in the Wiltshire town.
Marketing and Product Manager for GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK Ltd James Douglas said: “We’re pleased to be able to support such a worthwhile local cause – as technology develops, the need for a greater understanding of batteries and battery-powered vehicles grows.”
The battery manufacturer also provided access to their award-winning online learning platform, GS Yuasa Academy. Featuring over 20 detailed training courses, it offers best practice advice, covering every step of a battery’s ‘journey’ – from leaving the shelf, through ongoing maintenance, to end of service life in easy to follow, bite-sized modules.
“Launched last year, GS Yuasa Academy is the first system of its type offering comprehensive online battery training. We’re delighted to provide Rob and his students access to further their battery learning,” added James.
